Hey, my name is Tim K.

I've been shooting film since I was a kid. My first personal camera was from a cereal box and shot 110 film.
I learned film development and darkroom printing in high school circa 2000.
In my 20's I shot on and off, film and digital, trying to figure out my life and direction.
After starting to focus solely on film I eventually discovered the film classes at Locust Street Art.
My first solo exhibition was in 2018 at a cafe. It was entirely instant film shots and was called 'Everything Changes In An ...'.
My mentor and instructor at Locust Street Art passed in 2020 and the following year I helped revive their darkroom classes.
Recently I sponsored, curated, and am actively exhibiting a group show titled 'Rough and Rare: Polaroid 35mm Instant Slide Film'.
Discovering the work of the Sustainable Darkroom re-sparked my interest in utilizing eco-friendly processes.

I started 84grain to put myself and my work out in the world. The name is simply a combination of my year of birth and the undeniable 'feel' of film.
